Talkative, territorial, and striking - the Tīeke are such a treat to witness.
The lure of their distinctive call drew me in, but capturing them on camera was no easy feat. Their fast movements and dark features make them tricky to spot and even trickier to snap! In the end, the effort was well rewarded - this image so beautifully showing off the bronze plumage which gives the Tīeke their english name of 'Saddleback'.
